Lockton Artists

Sue Slack

Sue’s home is a small village on the edge of the North York Moors where she lives with her blacksmith partner and dog. She has a studio in an old converted barn with fine views towards Whitby. She paints landscape and this is fuelled by her passion for running and hiking.

More known for her brightly coloured acrylic paintings, Sue has recently begun to diversify her practice, exploring new ways of working in mixed media and collage. Influenced by scenes she glimpses on her fell runs, Sue continues to be drawn to the shape of the land and increasingly by the effect that light can have on different textures. She prefers working outside directly from nature, responding to what she sees and hears. Her work may be taking a new direction but it continues to be informed by her love of outdoors.

She has exhibited her work in galleries, arts centres, open studios and it is held in many private collections worldwide. She is a member of the Fylingdales Group of Artists and of Lockton Artists.
