Layla Khoo
Ceramics
I am a multimedia artist, specialising in ceramics and site-specific public art installations. I am particularly interested in creating participatory artworks to further engage audiences in the narratives I work with, and have begun PhD research on this topic with Leeds University and Hardwick Hall.
My specialism is ceramics, but I enjoy trying out as many different mediums as possible. During Open Studios I may be working with ceramics, painting or textiles – I’m unlikely to have a finished body of work to come and see, but you can have a sneak peek at any work in progress!

I have previously worked with collections within the National Trust, Historic England, independent museums, with diverse communities and created permanent sculpture for Forestry England. I am also a director of Vault Studio Space in Kirkbymoorside, and a founder and director of Ryedale Open Studios.
