Mixed Media Artist
Needle-felted landscapes made from sheep’s wool and embellished with additional textiles such as threads, spun wool and natural fibres to form layers of texture and colour. The wool lends itself to the habitat of the moors and dales and it can be shaped into flowers, plants and trees that lift off the
picture to create a 3D effect.
The products I create range from greetings cards to larger pictures, unframed or framed.
The wool is also used over a wire armature to create free standing sculptures of animals, birds and wildlife inspired by the countryside around. The dry felting process, of repeated stabbing the wool with a barbed needle, (very therapeutic) allows the wool to be moulded into shapes just like
sculpting with clay. Faces of animals are a particular favourite using this method. I’ve also been asked to use hair from various dogs to make keepsakes for their owners.
I have always loved using acrylics to create abstract paintings, watching the colours blend and mix and new shapes and forms appear. I tend to just go with the flow never sure what the end result will be.
