AHH Studio Collective

Dawn Brooks

I am a printmaker based at AHH Studio Collective in Malton, where I also run an open access print studio and regular workshops. I exhibit my work nationally and internationally, with a practice rooted in a sensitivity to drawing and process. My monochrome prints and drawings are rich in tone, texture and mark-making, exploring rather than describing the environments that inspire them. Industrial structures, disused spaces and overlooked places provide a starting point for a dialogue that shifts between urban landscape references and more abstract compositions.

Drawing remains central to my practice, developed further through printmaking techniques such as monoprint, etching and collagraph. These processes allow me to incorporate the immediacy of the drawn mark while embracing the subtle variations that emerge through inking and layering. The resulting works are stark yet intimate, with depth and presence. Alongside this, I teach printmaking locally and regionally.
