As a graduate artist, I have explored themes surrounding surveillance by reflecting upon my personal experiences of racism. Considering the methods of traceability and viewing used within society, from CCTV to tracking. Creating personal responses to explore whether the intensity and growth of surveillance has been influenced by factors of race, ancestry and traditional values.

Throughout my time at university, I constructed immersive installations which interrogated the viewer to communicate the thoughts and feelings of being scrutinised and made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. A combination of physical and digital materiality to showcase our position in an evolving technological world. With methods combining traditional printmaking with editing software to evoke a lasting presence through physical touch as well as the permanent digital footprint.

By drawing upon my own personal experiences as a British Asian, I am able to relay the messages that have indirectly been given to me. From being stared at, having remarks made against me and being treated as a suspect. My practice now acts as mechanism to dissect and deal with the surrounding noise. With the motif of an eye becoming the vocal point of my works, a constant reminder for me to stay vigilant and aware. Especially with the recent increase of racism disguised as patriotism. Which provides myself, as a creative, an opportunity to educate about the values of a diverse country.
